JESUS ROSE ON THE 3RD DAY. Try reading the Bible.
The Death of Jesus and the Resurrection of Jesus are two events in the New Testament in which Jesus is crucified on one day (the "Day of Preparation", i.e. the day before the Sabbath, the last day of the week), then resurrected on the third.[1] These two events form the heart of all Christian faith, and are remembered by Christians, the one on Good Friday and the other on every Sunday, but especially Easter Sunday.
In 1Corinthians 15:3-9 Paul of Tarsus claims that there were still at the time of writing (about the year 57) some hundreds to whom Jesus "had appeared", after he had been raised. And, since the resurrection of Christ was from the start considered the great demonstration of the religious importance of Jesus, other groups, particularly Jews, Muslims and Atheists have disputed its factual occurrence, which is why analysis of the death and resurrection claims occurs at many religious debates and interfaith dialogues.
While the Easter holidays are the time of year that the death and resurrection of Jesus are celebrated most solemnly, Christians have from the earliest times celebrated the resurrection on every Sunday, as Justin Martyr described in the mid-second century.[2] Much later, in the fourth century, Roman Emperor Constantine I made Sunday a public holiday.

News Flash!
Ancient peoples did not have the same sense of scientific criticism that is rampant today. They viewed a 'day' as a calendar day. Jesus was sacrificed on a Friday (1), laid in the tomb on Saturday (2), and rose again Sunday Morning (3). The Bible clearly states that He rose ON THE THIRD DAY. NOT after 72 hours.
And 1x1x1=1, not 3. If a diamond has 52 facets, do you have 52 diamonds?

In fairness, passover begins at dusk on Thursday, not Friday, which means it would in fact be three nights. But, not matter how you count it, it's still only two days, and the Bible explicitly says he laid in the tomb three days and three nights. If he was entombed just BEFORE sunset on Thursday, then Thursday also counts as a day.
But we could quibble about how days are counted for three days or more, yet the real issue is, people do not rise from the dead, and the documentation that this actually happened is of such poor quality, it would not even be permitted as evidence in court.

I see your point....but you asked too many questions at one time.
On the third day (Friday, Saturday and Sunday being the third day), mathematically correct.
1+1+1=3.....if you are re-thinking the concept of the trinity. Mathematically their are 3 parts to the human being. The body, the mind and the soul.
I hope I understood your question. If not....I apologize in advance.

apparently you are one of those who would be shocked at the miracles performed- and it would shut your mouth and dumbfound you. OR SHOULD I SAY IT WILL?
look ahmad - are you questioning our religion or yours? are you married to a six year old? do you live in the USA? are you wanting someone to give you a reason to call jesus a profit? Do you see us asking about the GOD that you worship? What are you so angry about? Questioning your beliefs? NO- we are too busy worshiping ours (the ONE true GOD) So maybe you ought to go on home- and pray- Then you will know that this is not what even your god intended-
Do you believe in the chance of getting all those virgins when you get to heaven for BOMBING in the name of "your God"
Go on now- go home and pray and drink your tea- YOU sad sad man.

No mystery here. It comes down to exactly when he was entombed, and the customary way in which ancient jews defined a "day".
Do a little reading:
http://www.carm.org/diff/Matt12_40.htm
Rest assured, no matter how long he was entombed, he got up and walked out of his own grave. Let's see YOU do that. ;)

I think that whole "on the third day" is meant more as Friday was the first day, Sat. the second, and Sun. the third.
