First I would address the parents out of respect for their household and them as parents. When you approach the parents walk on eggshells, but also get the point across that you value your things. If that does not work then I would buy a little box or chest to keep my things in. A chest (one that goes to the foot of the bed) is not costly and you can have a lock for it. I would get the chest regardless of the outcome of the talk with the parents. If you want to take it further buy little cheap treats for the child. Candy, 88 cent toys, etc. Something the child likes. Put a few in the child's reach. The child's attention will go directly to where ever you put the little bit of treats and not on your stuff. His/Her focus will be on that one spot of your room/area that he/she won't notice anything else. Or try spending more time with the child so the child respects you to a point that he/she will listen to you. Whatever you do though don't make the child feel upset or emotional in any way about you or toward you. Things from then on could only get worse.

if she is staying with you then you need to baby proof your stuff.. obviously she isnt a great parent (cause she wouldnt be preoccupied with myspace, a site for people with self esteem issues) but you need to watch your stuff anyhow...

on the other hand.. $20 worth of stuff is just $20 worth of stuff.. its nothing really... its "stuff" there are bigger problems in the world than some stuff getting wrecked... own less stuff.. you are killing the planet

Buy a lock box or a footlocker and lock your things up. try to keep your chin up and make the most of your current accomodations. Save your money so you can move out.

If you have a bedroom to yourself see about getting a lock for the door or keeping the door shut and put one of the knob covers on it so she can't open it. If you don't have a room to yourself get a locking box so she or anyone else can't get to it.
