There has always been religion. Not every child is brought up in a religious home. Religion hasn't divided people. People have divided themselves. Some believe this way, some believe that way. People choose to believe in many different things, instead of taking the bible as it is. Truth

It's really more about control. Both religions and governments rule by belief in such. Those that make the choices, determine what comes out. It's not any different than any family. If a subject (child) does not follow the rules, there is punishment to keep the offender in line. Unfortunately, not all families, governments, religions, or even people can always act responsibly for those under their care. Power over others invites abuse. Society rules are enforced with Nature rules. In other words, Society has rules on how people need to act. If someone fails to follow these rules, then the powers that be punish without any rules.

Oh, everybody wants to rule the world. I would have to say that this is rather ingrained into humanity. Or is it inhumanity???

When was this time "before religion" when you think all people were equal? That is some fantasy.
There were always differences among people and there always will be. Whether the differences divide people is a matter of how they deal with the differences. Because you are different than me, or have a different religion, does not mean I cannot love you or get along with you.
We are born into this world with different ethnic and racial back grounds too.
Human differences should not divide.

why does believing in one religion has to be hating and keeping away from the other one? The problem is not with religions; it's us. We are biased and intolerant tyrannts who want to rule. In the eyes of Islam, all people are equal. I am sure the case is the same with the rest of religions. No religion would call for hatred and division! It does not make sense! It is the practice that is not right. People use religion for purposes; political, social, financial and claim that it is what religion teaches when religion is innocent.

What about Bush's war on Iraq? Said to be an order from God when it is to control oil! We should understand better and know that religion is really innocent, regardless of what the religion is.

What uninformed uneducated drivel!
How would you know? Were you around back then?
But seriously, the best evidence indicates that primitive peoples were divided by class, clan and village into very small groups, each group having it's own household gods. And if you did not belong to the clan, you did not belong anywhere.
Religions as we know them today group people into quite large groups.
Also, religions build hospitals, feed the starving, care for the poor, lots of good things.
Of course an improvement upon this would be for all people to be tolerant and respectful of all others merely because they are human, to grant free speech, legal protections, and human rights to all humans regardless.
But guess which religion invented that idea? It's the one held by most Americans. Go ahead, guess!

“RELIGION GIVES A PURPOSE IN LIFE”
bad come from bad and gud come from gud evil come from evil
The benefits of the true religion are numerous. The person who has no religion or has chosen a wrong religion is the biggest loser. Nothing can compensate this loss.

We find many disbelievers around us who have wealth, power, and property. Many people think that they are the most fortunate people in the world. But there were many people like them in the past who are now dead. Every person knows without any doubt that they have left all their wealth, power and honour which they were enjoying during their lifetime. So death is the end of every material and worldly thing.

Are you not passing the buck? Instead of facing the menace head-on, ain't you trying to place it conveniently on the religion and walk away?

No religion ever teaches to subjugate others. All religions convey the message of brotherhood and propagate harmony. It's the religious leaders who have distorted the whole thing for their own vested interests. It's their desire to rule that has led to the present melee.

We must rise and denounce the real culprits rather than calling all religions bad and evil.

The human race doesn't need much of an excuse to turn things into a case of "us" versus "them." Religion gets a bum rap, but if there was no religion, people would find something else. Like:

Politics, skin color, ethnic origin, size, income, social status, geographic location, dress, and all the other ways that we classify ourselves.

Don't pick on religion. . .it's just one of the many.

That's so true! However, religion is not the only source of division among humans. I mean, people are divided also by politics, sports (in some places, at least), ideology in general, social class, sex, sexual preferences...
