This is sort of a "fancy schmancy" advertising ploy. It means that all the cylinders are in a straight line, as opposed to say, a "V" configuration like most 6 and 8 cylinder engines are. Funny thing is, its not really a selling point because every 4 cylinder car I have ever seen is an in-line. The advertising means zilch - nothing.

With the exception of one European car manufacturer, all four cylinder motors are in-line. The literature is only stating the obvious.
In-line motors, by nature, usually have more torque then "V" motors of the same displacement. An example is a Ford 4.9 300 CID L6 motor, and the 5.0 302 V8 motor. A stock 302 v8 engine only has six pounds more torque then a stock 300 L6,(in-line 6,) in spite of having 2 extra cylinders and two more cubic inches of displacement.

I think incline refers to the cylinders laying partially on their sides in the engine compartment. I think they would be a straight 4, not in the V formation. I doubt it makes any diffrence in power as opposed to the upright straight 4. Anyway, I don't think your 4 cylinder for that car comes any other way.
