Hi there Bugs
What a wonderful opportunity. You will be blown away by the friendliness & laid back attitude of the Turks. You will be very welcome. I lived in Bodrum for 5 years (it's 4 hours from Izmir) & you're looking at a 3 day journey of about 12 hours a day to get anywhere near the Iraq border, have no fear.
idon't think that you'll want to go home at the end. I'd recommend that you get a Turkish/English Dictionary, Turks love it when you try to speak their language & they appreciate your effort. I'd go back to Turkey in a heartbeat if I could. Good luck & enjoy. PS. Go to Bodrum for a weekend, it's beautiful

it depends where you are but you shouldn't have any problem living here for 6 months, please don't worry about it being close to Iraq if your in Istanbul it actually takes the same time to get to Iraq from Istanbul as it would if u was leaving from Greece or Bulgaria. Turks are very friendly and will not have a problem with you being Mexican. you will probably love it
take a look at a map of turkey http://www.ims.metu.edu.tr/images/turkey%20map.jpg

Hello.. I live in Istanbul. I want to ask where you will work? In which city? It is important because situations are different. Iraq is Turkeys' neighbour but if you will live in Ä°stanbul, this means you will be 1200-1400 km.away from Iraq. And i want to add that Turkey is different from peoples' ideas. I have lots of friends from abroad who visited to Turkey and said ''We have different ideas about Turkey before our visit''. Come and see.. Turkey is a lovely place and people are so gentle to foreign people. First you have to come and examine it.

I m busy in foreign trade and I know a lot of foreign citizens living in Turkiye. They are all happy here. They all say that Turkiye is a cheap European.

U will see Turkish ppl are hot as latinos. I think u will extend your job after 6 months. Good luck...
