Bridget, I make wedding night baskets. All the brides seem to love them, and they are so very easy to make, and budget for one is $15 and up. It depends upon what you put in them.
My daughter's basket I filled with bathoils, bubblebath, candles, pretty soaps, lotions, a beautiful lacey nightie, slippers, two wine glasses, and a bottle of wine. My friend's second time around for both of them, I did the almost the same thing, but I did more of a couple's basket, with handcuffs, glow-in-the dark items, whip cream, chocolate syrup, eatable underwear. My cousin's I did a combination of my daughter's and the friend's. So, she got a sexy fun basket.
You buy a pretty basket, and line it with a peice of material the color of the bride's wedding, and just start filling.....I did a honeymoon basket for a couple, small sized shampoos, mouth washs, razors, lotions, cottonswabs, bandaids, aspirins, things that you will need for a vacation. My daughter's I had some pretty butterfly hairclips, so it's a personal basket, just not a regular gift basket you pick up off the shelf.
I hope this helped, my cousin that I made one for, is taken the idea, and she makes the baskets and sell them. She does one that is cute for honeymooners...with cameras, and suntan lotion.
If you don't like the idea of a gift basket, then how about kidnapping her for a night, and just you and her sit back and relax...that would be the best present, no phones, just good ole girl talk...
God bless us all.........

Gift card for a fun couple place -- depending on budget.
One of my best pals gave me a weekend at B&B. We're not B&B type, so I gave it back before it expired, but it was a really nice thought!
One of my other best pals gave a gift cert for a dinner and magic show. We all have to eat, and it was entertaining!
We're not the type to spend $ on outings, so these were nice treats. And I thought they were very considerate to give us things that we could create our own memories, just the two of us. A nice and much needed break after a "wedding"

Althought some people feel it's impersonal, cash is the most practical and will definitely be appreciated. If you want to personlize it a little, you could give a check along with something else, such as a box of the couple's favorite candy, or tickets to the movies.
I gave my best friend a check and a gift certificate for two to a nice restaurant.

I got my friend a scrapbook and scrapbook tools to start a new memory book for her wedding. That was the shower gift. The wedding gift was a pro makeup artist to do her make up, paid for her hair to get done, and for a manicure and pedicure.

Well, for when it is my best friends birthday, i ALWAYS get her something special that makes her know that i care about her, as a best friend of course. What does your friend like? Jewerly, clothes, food? Get her something special, that shows your friendship. Example, my best friend likes and sorts loves wearing different types of pants. So i got her this special typr of pants i found, and that costed, almost $99!! But that is how i show her i care about her.

Gift certificate for some place she likes or cash. That way it doesn't add to the junk she probably won't want. Just do me a favour and don't get her Corningware!

You should get her something from the heart and something that has meaning to you and her. A scrap book. A locket with you guys picture in it. A bestfriend necklace. Something she always wanted. It has to relate to something about your friendship through the years. That is the theme.
