It really depends. (off-topic, but I seem to start answers with "it depends" quite often)
Everybody's skin is different. If you think you have a horrible case of acne, go to a doctor. There are a multitude of prescription-strength medicines out there, the catch is they require a prescription. (Having used quite a few of them myself, I know.)
If your skin isn't that bad, just take a walk down to whatever skin-care or bath supplies shop you can find. The people that work there can usually help you find what you want. (Though if you are a guy, this may take some strength of character, as these shops are usually very girly.)
One thing I can tell you for sure: you won't find solutions at the nearest grocery store. Grocery stores in general stock only the cheapest, least effective products.
