You need to take your dog to the vet and have the vet deworm him, he can tell what kind and what medicine will get rid of it. UNTIL he's free of worms don't let him lick face and so forth for can transfer to you . Eventually your dog will get very sick for the worms are eating the food he eats and can also damage his internal organs. This cannot wait but needs urgent medical care

Yup its worms...If its long and skinny almost like a shoelace its most likely roundworms..and you can get stuff for that at a pet store. I work at petsmart so I see people come in all the time asking about that. Buying things form a petstore is always an optioin but if you try that out and it doesn't work you need to go to the vet asap so it doesn't get worse.

Sounds like roundworms. You need to take him to the vet and have him wormed or take a stool sample and the vet will give you the appropriate wormer

Parasites are mostly (contrary to the high profile in the news variety) species specific - they do not live well in other species. You can get worms from your dog but they will not live as well in you as they would in your dog.

If this thought does not comfort you (it would not comfort me very much) take him to a vet NOW!

Good luck!

That excact thing happened to me and my dog. Keep the worm as a sample and take you, your dog, and your new worm to the vet. They will tell you what type of worm it is and what to do.

Humans do not generally get roundworms from direct contact with the infected animal, unless it is a young puppy. You can get them from handling the soil where the infected dog has been pooping.
