J.S. Bach died in 1750. His style was very much epitomized Baroque. Musicians after him used larger orchestras and piano.
In literature, different ideas would soon be taking place as well. The order of the enlightenment would no longer be the focus, but the asthetics of nature and man- Romanticism comes into place soon.

Basically, it is a completely arbitrary designation just designed for the purpose of generalizations. In 1751, it wasn't like the baroque period offically ended, there was a big party and the next period started up.

There were certainly baroque artists who continued to work in the manner of the Baroque past 1750. 1750, however, is a nice round number. It is also the year that J.S. Bach, master of baroque music, died. It is more general; the dates simply serve as general reference points.

After 1750 they made a whole bunch of money, and bought a nice new house, so they were no longer "barouqe".

I am not certain about the beginning but the end is specifically at the death of J.S. Bach.

it probably follows the regin of a certain royal family. The dates are just rounded off to be easier to remember.
