The Master of Ceremony keeps the progression of the wedding on track.

At my wedding I had a master and mistress of ceremony. Basically I had them make sure everything ran smoothly. If the wedding party was needed for pictures, they made sure everyone was there, if the bride needed anything, they retrieved it, if there was a problem with the cake, they handled it. An MC can help take a lot of the worry away from the bride and groom.

A wedding is not show biz. There should not be an MC at a wedding.

Well it stands for master of ceremonies so they basically announce stuff and maybe act as DJ.
