Large cities have strick rules and laws.......depends really where you are.

Now for me being a PitBull owner in a small town, we don't have many laws or rules on or against owning a PitBull.

I do find misconception alot on how these dogs are....it's all how you raise them. In large cities people are known to use them and train them for fighting which leads to people fearing ALL PitBulls.
This angers me, both the selfish acts of dog fighting and the following misconceptions of the animals.

My 2yr. old PitBull is the most loving, happy, friendly, social dog I really have ever seen.......he's not a very good guard-dog....lol.

But as far as laws....it depends where you are.

Like the other person said the laws differ from city to city. Some citys have banned them(sadly). But you also need to take into consideration your home insurance company. Some companies will drop your policy. Those who will allow them will make you get a $50,000 vicious dog policy per dog. Not fair, but iknow I own two and our insurance jumped dramaticly.

It depends on where you live. You can call your district attorney's office to get the specific law for where you live. In some places, owning a pitbull is outlawed, but they are allowed in most places.

In Florida, be prepared to be totally dropped on your homeowner's insurance if they find out you have a pittbull. No, it isn't fair, but as always, a few idiots have made things difficult for the rest.

PRETTY SURE YOU HAVE TO HAVE A FENCED YARD AND A LEASH, MAKES YOUR HOME OWNERS INSURANCE GO UP, IF YOU CAN EVEN GET IT. SOME INSURANCE COMPANIES WON'T ALLOW A CLIENT TO HAVE PIT BULLS. BETTER CHECK FIRST. BEST OF LUCK
