It's pretty rare to find a girl that will actually ask a guy out on a date. So if a guy is attracted to a girl, what's the best way to ask them out without being boring i.e. 'Do you wanna grab a coffe sometime?' I'm told if you tell a girl that you'll be somewhere, indirectly, if they like you they will be there too without you actually asking them out. Is this true?

Well, there should be attraction there before asking a girl out. It's not always possible especially if she's in a hurry to get somewhere and you may never see her again so in that situation you've just got to go for it.
Put yourself in a woman's shoes. If she's remotely attractive she's had her share of sexual pervs / goof offs / dorks / and guys who try to impress her. So you don't want to come off like every other guy. Most guys approach girls come off as needy, insecure, and worry too much on thinking about impressing her when, in fact, they should be confident enough to display their personality. And if she doesn't go for it, that's OK. It's not rejection and not a reflection on you personally. She might be seeing someone. She might be at a place in her life where she doesn't want to meet anyone. She might have man-hate issues. Or you simply are not her type.
You've got to think about logistics too. Bar and night club game is usually different than running street game. If you're in bookstore you might take a different approach. The key to approaching a girl is to make sure you lock eyes with her and when you do talk to her talk to her as though you're the best thing that's happen to her all day. I don't mean be an arrogant jerk (though some girls like that - diff topic), but I'm talking about being a confident, relaxed male who KNOWS he has options and isn't tied down to trying to make it work out with ANY one particular woman.
Once you can get rid of the whole REJECTION myth that seems to permeate society these days, then you'll be more relaxed and have more fun with talking to girls. The thing is that these are social skills that can be learned by anyone. And since they are skills you have to PRACTICE! I recommend approaching and talking to girls that you dont' know at least 25 times per week if you really want to tighten your game in a 30 day period. That's a little less than 4 girls per day. I approached over 100 girls in one weekend by going to an amusement park, a night club, and a wedding reception.
Start practicing.

Learn about the person you are wanting to ask out and just be straight up. And don't forget to look for the right time ask. If they say they will go out with you. Then remember the key is to be yourself and not someone you are not. If and when they say "yes" have Plan "A" and Plan "B". One can be going to a place that is public and the other can be going to a place semi-public. But remember to be honest with your date and yourself.

It is never boring when a guy that your into asks you out. So just be yourself and go for it. Also, to answer your last question, no, unless of course your talking junior high age. If you want to go out with someone just straight up ask them if they would like to go out sometime. If they like you then it doesn't really matter how you ask them.

Well sometimes, it depends on the girl. Like most girls wouldnt go because they dont want to make it too audvious. Just flirt a ton with them, and than come up behind her in the hallway, and surprise her. than ask her if she is doing anything later, and if she says no say, we should go out for coffee! and she will prolly say yes. good luck!
