I once told an awful, awful lie to my husband. Don't ask me why, because I never lie to him!! I wanted to tell him so bad!! But I was afraid of what he would do/say/feel if I told him the truth. I thought about it everyday and everynight literally. It kept me up everynight. I kept it inside for a yr and a half. I finally got up the nerve to tell him. I needed him to know, the lie was killing me inside. The wonderful, bighearted man he is, he forgave me and all was done.
I believe honesty is always the best policy. But it depends on who you ask. Like Dr. Joy Brown....she says divulging you have cheated is stupid.
I also believe this: if they don't ask, don't tell.

How long a person can "hold something in" depends on their own conscience. It also depends on how much good the "outing of that something" would do. In other words, you must ask yourself is it worth telling this deep secret to a particular person if it is something that would hurt them and what would it accomplish?
Yes, I do have a deep dark secret.
No, I will never spill it to one certain person.
There never is a "too long" when it comes to protecting the ones you love.
