Robinson - W 173 (KO's 108) TF 200 - W pct 87% - KO pct 54% - wins over Zivic{2}, La Motta[4], Armstrong, Gavilan{2}, Olson[3], Basilio{2} and Fullmer - KO'ed by Maxim (heat exhaustion) - #11 ranked puncher - #1 ranked fighter

When Robinson fought Maxim, he was leading on all cards before he succumbed to heat exhaustion. Spinks is a very unorthodox fighter and not easy to fit. In this bout, Spinks does not do enough and allows Sugar to amass a easy 15 rd unanimous decision.

Easily, Sugar Ray Robinson. Neither Spinks ranks high on my greatest boxers of all time.

Robinson was a natural welterweight, so it would be very difficult to beat a fighter of Spinks's caliber at his natural weight. This isn't Hearns-Andries or Hearns-Hill. Sugar Ray was the best of all time, any weight, but Spinks was too good at this weight.

well condidering that the only fight i saw of Mike Spinx was about 89 seconds into the first round vs Mike Tyson and the 90th second he was sleeping. I would give that one to Robinson. KO in the ...well, if Ray went up to Lght Hvywght...in the 3rd

ray robinson a great welterweight and a great middleweight could not beat light heavyweight champion joey maxim although heat played a factor and perhaps it was past his prime but i think spinks a true light heavyweight would win.
