I want to get a golden retriever but my parents won't let me and they don't like pets. Please get me advise to covince them to let me have a puppy. Thank you so much.

The only way it will work, is if you can convince THEM that they want a puppy...Go to your library and get a book on Golden Retrievers, and discuss all the things you learn about them, with your parents..Just bring up all the great things, in casual conversation..and bring up their needs and care as well..
You see, your parents know that you don't know where you will be in just a very few years..whether you go away to college, get married to a serviceman, get a job in a big city...or whether you will always have a home where you can have a dog..Goldens live to be 15 or more years old..So, the care of this dog, in its adulthood, and old age are likely to fall on your parents..

It is also the parents' home that gets pee stained, furniture chewed, yard dug up, flower beds ruined, etc...So, THEY have to feel that they want a dog, before they can ever give you the OK to get one...
If you are 16 or more, volunteer at your local shelter..You will learn more and more about the responsibility of owning a dog, and may even convince your parents to allow you to foster a dog or two, while they are waiting to be adopted...
whether or not your parents give in, you will have a meaningful outlet to learn and share your love for dogs..by volunteering, where the dogs really need you..

Are you really set on a golden retriever? I had this problem before and instead of getting a bigger dog, I opted for a small dog like a chihuahua or a maltese because they're low maintenance.

Plus, I also promised that I would take care and take full responsibility about any dog issues. :)

Wait until you have your own place. Imagine what a horrible life that poor dog would have living in a house where the 2 people in charge don't want him! This is not something to be selfish about.

No Way! Even if they wanted the dog it's a huge responsibility and it can be a pain. It's not fair to the dog if it's not really wanted. I love all my animals to pieces, but I couldn't wait for my dog to get through puppy hell.

I wanted a cat for a long time and my dad wouldn't let me. Somehow i finally made a deal with him that if i got straight a's on my report card he would let me get my very own kitten. unfortunately i didnt get the straight a's i wanted but he knew i had tried really hard to try to get and keep my grades up, so over the summer he let me get a kitten for my birthday anyways. you may be able to try something of this sort by making a deal. hope that helps.

Take care of a neighbours or someones pet for the weekend so you get a taste of it. Show them if youre responsible! It ain't easy though Ill tell you that! But do this and itll increase your chances

tell them that you have always wanted a dog. and also tell them that dogs make great companiens. my mom used to not like them but now she likes them.you could also tell them that you will be responcible. and also tell them to just give it a try. good luck!!!! i am very happy with my dogs they may be big but they sure give me lots of protection!!
