YEs..your final paycheck for the year shows the taxes withheld, etc. If you file it using a tax package like Taxcut http://www.taxcut.com you can file it online and you don't need to send in the W-2's

Can it be done? Yes it can but the IRS regulations require you wait until February 15 before you file without a W-2. To do so on line you would be required to know some information from the W-2 that you may not have so that is a potential problem. If you do so and make an error in the numbers that you submit you will hear from the IRS and will be required to amend your return.

If you have year to date on your last paycheck stub, and only one employer, you could use that. However, there are things that can affect that amount being correct with the IRS, so it is likely to be slightly off. Then you will have to file an amended return. Best to wait for the W2.

If you file online, you can file without your W-2 if you're real sure of all of the numbers.
