The wife and I have done Nutrisystems about a year ago, and are now doing Jenny Craig.

Both have the same basic plan. You buy their meals / snacks, and supplement them with fresh fruit, dairy and veggies. Nutrisystems was maybe $300 per month, and JC is approximately $400 - $440 for food.

The wife and I both had good success with Nutrisystems, and so far equally good success on Jenny Craig. Both work.

Here's the issue. The Nutrisystem food for the most part was not too good. All too often, you could taste that they added protein powder, or some sort of chalky tasting powder to all too many of their meals. Most of the desserts had this in their too and it just made them inedible to us. We both quit after about 1 1/2 months because we just couldn't take the food any more. Maybe things have improved since then. I haven't heard anything about new and improved food. Nutrisystem food does not need refrigeration.

Jenny Craig food on the other hand, is comparable to grocery store frozen foods. Most of it I find pretty good, although most lunches and dinners needs salt. The desserts actually taste like what a dessert should taste like. With Jenny Craig, you can choose the direct shipment option or go to their store and meet with the counselor once a week and pick up your food. About half the food needs to be frozen.

I recommend going with JC, unless you manage to get a hold of some Nutrisystem food and give it a taste test. You might find some on ebay being sold. JC is offering a special lose 20 lbs for $20 membership right now.

I never used Nutrisystem. Cant compare for you. But I did like Jenny Craig. I followed it to a "T" and I lost weight and felt SO good! I didnt allow for (or expect) 'rebound' so I gained back when I went off.
If I were to do it again, I would go back to Jenny Craig, and lose to my desired weight. Then I would go to Weight Watchers faithfully. Weight Watchers is full of great info and support.
I dont remember if there was a start-up fee or weekly fee for Jenny Craig but I think the food for a week was around $100.00. A lot, but worth it in self esteem and all those other good things about being at the right weight. (2-3 pounds a week/$100.00)=8-12 pounds a month.
If you can afford that, consider it a "quick fix" and Weight Watchers for maintenance.
Good Luck.

Neither. All diet plans have a 3% to 5% chance of acheiving long term results.

There was a study done recently showing that people on these types of diet plans lost an average of 11 pounds after being on the diet for 5 years.
