Before you buy anything check with your vet! I suspected this summer my Greyhound may have been exposed to a neighbor's dog who had fleas. I learned that Greyhounds should never be given flea and tick powders because they don't have much hair. My vet said it could cause her skin problems. Ask your vet about the possibility of giving your dog a professional bath.

The best is Frontline Plus, which you can get from your vet. It works for about a month and is waterproof. You apply it monthly to your dog's neck. It works for fleas, flea larvae, flea eggs, it covers the most species of ticks of all the brands (I think), it also protects against certain types of mange. It's also the safest product, since it is not absorbed by the system. It's absorbed into the oil glands in your pet's skin and spreads throughout the body in the oil. This product is best if your dog is on Heartgard for heartworm prevention.
Revolution is another good product. It does not have the range of Frontline but it does protect against mosquitos, which carry heartworm larvae.
Avoid using any products like Hartz that you can purchase from Walmart and other retail stores. These products are usually not very effective and can be dangerous to your pets and to children.
The best way to determine what's right for you and your pet is to contact your veterinarian and discuss the matter with him/her.

"K9 ADVANTIX"

My dog is very allergic to flea bits and this has been the best on keeping him flea free!!!!!

Make sure whatever you use is not only for fleas and ticks but for mosquitos too! The ones with all three protectants are the best products.

K9 Advantix and frontline are more waterproof. But if you dont bathe that often try Advantage. Wait 2 days before/after bathing to apply.

If you live in an area with a lot of fleas, I'd recommend Frontline. It works on my pets everytime and it is easy to use.
