im buying a truck in illinois tommorow and wanted to know what i need to do in order to get plates to drive it back to ohio with, anyone know what i need to do and what it costs, all that good stuff... thanks!

If you are buying it in IL and live in OH, you cannot get IL temp tags unless you want to pay for the registration fee ($78.00) in IL. Dealerships are aware that people often go from one state to another to purchase vehicles and have the info that you need. Your best best is to call the Ohio BMV @ 1-800-589-8247 before you go.

I'm in IL myself, and I'll piggyback on what the previous answerer said...and add that you can double check the temp tag rules by going to the IL secretary of state's website which is cyberdriveillinois.com and you can see if you can just get a true temp tag rather than buying IL plates you don't need... hope this helped.
