I stopped going there after a month because it seemed like a bunch of pseudo religious cult-like BS. /they have this type of language they all talk in that I called.."taliking in bumber stickers" I think it is onlky good for people whom like to hear thier own voice when they complain. The studies have shown the program to be a failure...why do therapists and doctors still recommend it?

because the religious right likes control and most doctors/employers/judges don't have many other options.

AA breaks you down by saying you are sick with a DISEASE which I don't believe and then they tell you that YOU have no control only your "higher power" does and as such absolves you from responsibility but now you must dig up every tom dick or harry that you hurt due to your "disease" and grovel. It Is A Control For Sheep!
they have a 5-10% success rate just about the same success rate as quitting on your own

Alcohol is not cancer
it is not HIV or glaucoma
drinking is a choice, and for those who are too weak willed to take responsibility for their actions they want someone to tell them it isn't their fault they have a disease
I know that AA does help some people who truly have a problem but we are all different and to expect a cookie cutter program to work for everyone is ludicrous!
there are meds out there than can help but using meds is against what AA teaches so they won't even consider recommending them.

First of all AA has no affiliation to any religion.
The American Medical Association classified alcoholism as a disease for three main reasons
1) It has known symptoms - abnormal drinking and the inability to stop
2)It is progressive - the drinking gets worse and the body eventually starts to fail as well as mental capacity
3) It has a known outcome - DEATH

There has been no other treatment that has been so successful, though sad to say the success rate is diminishing, not because AA does not work but so many other factors are watering down the message of AA.

AA is for people who WANT to live sober lives and return to a productive way of living. It is based on very simple spiritual principles which too many confuse with religion.

Remember drinking is only a symptom of alcoholism. It is a physical, mental and spiritual malady and is actually incurable but by honestly giving the programme a try, having an open mind and having the willingness to do what is asked of you, you can join the over two million alcoholics worldwide who are living good productive lives.

It works one day at a time and though simple, it is not easy.
It is a programme for those who want it and sadly not for those who need it.

keep reading the "Orange papers" for the reality about AA. it really is an complete recommendations Fook. their own files teach a 5% fulfillment cost, it really is dismal. maximum human beings that end ingesting or abusing drugs accomplish that all alone. The disease theory/theory , inspite of they call it really is likewise a lie. It hasn't ever been proved absolutely, all information they have for it really is anecdotal. do not bypass again, and be confident you ignore each little thing they instructed you. i'm confident you spotted the "you're in denial" and the "you've not had adequate" crap printed by skill of the steppers, it truly is their total sport, they wrestle to make you sense stupid or look stupid for no longer figuring out to purchase into that wacky bunch of crap. you're very not likely to hearken to really one of them say ,"properly, if this does no longer healthy you i wish you stumble on what you're searching for." it truly is because they extremely purchase their own BS. A month is lengthy adequate, no count what all of us says. they opt for you to stay longer in order that that you get better publicity because they employ theory reform techniques reminiscent of cults do. stay living house, bypass the park, exercising consultation, some thing yet brainwashing 100 and one.

yo, if you really really really really really really really wanna lay off the sauce the do it because it's ruining your life and the lives of everone around you. If your a weak a** p****y then give in and drink up and accept what you are and live without guilt, mind over matter, if you can't do it then embrace it. AA is just another ritualized addiction, like the booze itself. one or the other my friend, how weak is ya? Dumb enough to get pie eyed but not so stupid to fall for the propaganda. make a choice and stick with it. Where's yer will at?

It can really help. It saved my mother's life. You may not like the "higher power" stuff, but if you believe that, it can help you. You have to get over yourself. The method of using repetitive phrases is very helpful for many conditions.
