I might hire one from China. She is a kindergarten teacher and wants to improve English. What do you think? She's 30 and has a child and husband and would stay for a year.

Yes, and it was a horrible experience. She was 21 and from France. First of all she rarely watched the kids she was too cool for that, never cleaned the house (did not know how), never fixed a mean (once and it was bad) and she expected money all the time. She was like the celebrity in our home. The prima donna who we had to spend time with. She wanted to be wined and dined so to say.
She lasted 4 months. Brought men home over-night, lied to her parents that I was not paying her, and made phone calls all night long to her boyfriend in France (cost us $1,500).
It was a total disaster. Not all, but many of these nanny's come here to get away from home and be naughtly. They are free at last and they want to live it up at your expense.
I say get a nanny from the USA and check them out well all references. Forget overseas unless you want an experience like I had. (I also had an exchange student from France a boy and that was awful too) No more for me.

I have never hired a nanny, but a few years ago, I was a sponser to a girl from Australia. She was the most wonderful and pleasant girl! She had done some baby sitting at home and after awhile, we let her watch our daughter. We only had one then. I don't know if all foreigners are this way, but she truly beleived that children are a gift and the key to our future. She's been back home for awhile, but we keep in touch, and I just adore her.
