Alot of people are not aware of the second death. They just know of a resurection. The bible tells us

Rev 20:6 Blessed and holy [is] he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years

So all those that have kept the Lords law will be in the first ressurection. those that don't will be in the second ressurection.

From what I believe, the first death was that of Jesus on the cross and He was the first resurrection. The second are those of us who believe that He died on the cross for our sins. Those who have faith will have eternal life.

If you go back to verse 4 -

"4And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.

5But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection.

6Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.
...
And if anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire."

I interpret that as being all martyrs plus all people who believed in God and did good deeds - go directly to heaven and are not judged again. The rest of us have to wait until the final Judgment Day. If our names are written in the book of life we can enter heaven -- if not, we die the second time, cast into the fires. (see verses 11-15).
Anyway, that's how I see it.

Are you aware that your world view is a delusional fantasy based upon the myths, superstitions and fairy tales of an ignorant bunch of Bronze Age fishermen and wandering goat herders?

You are right. Most of our 'understanding' of things like Heaven, Hell, God as a white bearded old man, etc. are cultural gifts whose basis is not of the Bible.

that's awesome except for the gloating that I hear behind certain questions like this. Somehow I don't think the Lord smiles on smugness.
