I am located in central illinois and am looking for a nice but inexpensive location for a wedding. We want something other than a church

Check some of the state parks. There are some beautiful ones that have lodging and banquet rooms available. I have been to a wedding at Starved Rock State Park in Utica, IL, and it was wonderful.

First take a look at your budget and then pick at least 3 places that you feel will fit your budget and what you're looking for. Most places like hotels and banquet halls are booked 1-3 years in advance. So keep that in mind that most places should be able to accomodate what you're looking for as long as you book in advance.
