and he said yes! But he said he has to check to see if he's allowed to go, because he is Mormon. How can I tell if he actually is not allowed to go, or he just said yes to me so he wouldn't hurt my feelings and just says he is not allowed to go to get out of it? Please help!

Mormons cannot think for themselves, this is a fact. Find another date, you do not need the anxiety of dealing with a Mormon.

Mormons are strange to outsiders , he did not know what was allowed in taking you to the dance . He did not want to offend his family and you gotta love that . He said yes because he likes you

You don't say how old you are, but if you are under 14 and asked him to a dance, he probably did have to check first. LDS youth are not permitted to attend Church dances and encouraged not to attend other dances, until they are 14.
Mormons do dance, but they have guidelines, and for a good reason! My kids have gone to non-Mormon (school and other) dances and left because they were disgusted with the 'dirty dancing'. He probably wants to go, but isn't sure if his folks will let him. Perhaps you can ask him when his Stake Youth dance is and, if you are over 14, ask him if you can go with him to his church dance.
If you do go to the church dance, you will need to dress appropriately; dresses to the knee, no spaghetti straps or tank tops. You can still have fun being covered!

Well...there really isnt a way of telling if he really isnt allowed or if hes just trying not to hurt you. the best way is to talk to the friends he has. that happened to me last year. i asked a guy to the dance..he said yes..but all of a sudden "he couldnt go". then...i see him at the dance with another date. just ask around a lot. having back up options such as close guy friends are always good if a jerk like i found happens to you. hope this helps :]

Just ask him what did his mom say. If he says no, then move on. I mean, if he cant go to a damn dance, then do u think u and him would work out as a couple? Hell he's probably not even allowed to have gurls call his house.

maybe he doesn't know if his parents will let him go and he is leaving his religion out there so he won't be embrassed when his parents just say he is too young, too immature or for some other reason they won't let him go. This way it won't look bad on him or his parents. He will just blame being a mormon.

Either way, he's a nice guy. He's either trying to go to the dance with you or he's trying not to hurt your feelings. My guess is he actually wants to go with you - most people don't use religious reasons to get out of going to dances.

You know these guys believe they're getting their own planet when they die, right? Read the Book of Mormon sometime and I doubt you'll worry about it any more.
