Inequality for gays makes me sad. It makes me sad for my lesbian aunt knowing that she probably won't be permitted to legally wed in her lifetime. It makes me sad for my friends uncle, sad that he won't be able to marry his partner of 15+ years before he dies because of bigots and the religious reicht.
I'm sad for my sister's friend from highschool and her friend from college and our old family friend who hasn't quite come out yet and my cousin who also hasn't bluntly TOLD everyone.
So many loved ones, so many old friends and new... so many denied the right most of us take for granted.

I have to say, when i first saw the title of this question it scared me that someone would actually ask that, but now i see what you were getting at. I want to say that i agree that driving is not a right, but it is a freedom, a freedom that is given to everyother "different" group in america. Christians and Jews can drive, Africans, Asians, and Hispanic people can drive. and in the same sense, they can alll get married, what is the big difference between us and the rest of the world.
blatantly: yes, we should be allowed to drive.

Marriage is a religious institution. The government needs to get out of it. As far as insurance and hospital and prison visitation rights, everyone shoud be allowed to designate who they would like to allow to visit them. For taxes, each adult should need to file seperately. If one spouse is supported by the other, they would just report no income. If religion and state were truly seperated, this would not be an issue.

There are many people of faith, people on spiritual paths, who believe that gay people should have the same rights as anyone else. I know that certain people get all the media attention on this issue, but there are a lot of other good people who are seriously practicing all kinds of spiritual traditions who aren't homophobic.
It can be discouraging when the "religious right" seems like the only group with a voice right now, but please know that a lot of other spiritual people are speaking up, too!

I agree. there are so many gay men and women out there who deserve this freedom, why should they not get a tax cut like everyone else. i know a lot of people think gays should not have kids either, thats terrible. So many children hit 18 without ever being adapted, go ask these kids, would you rather not have a family or live with two moms or two dads, see what they say. People need to grow up. Love is love no matter what color, race, or sex you are. LOL

As soon as they are identified, they should be chained to a 'work wheel' like Conan was and be forced to look at each others bums...forever just out of reach. Neocon families should be allowed to come and laugh at the evil gays toiling away endlessly on their road to Hell. Neocons would all be blessed in the sure knowledge that they are getting in to Heaven. Ahh the neocon fantasy would only build as they get their democrat slaves to clean up after the picnic...for the scraps generously left behind. It is only God's Will after all.

Oh please...Why there is so many questions about gay people? Just leave them alone. Why would you want to take away their rights? Gay person is the same person as you are-and society shouldn't be so cruel to them.
I personally know couple gays and they are so much better than some of us are.

YES! They are capable of doing the same things as we are - we're all human. God gives us life and body why not use them. I think people should stop worrying and focus on what best on our country and to the rest world. What's next? They are not allowed to work?

I like your question, and the humor in it. It does point out people's flawed point of view on homosexuality. Maybe they need to do a little research or read an educational book (not the bible) on the subject before making an prejudiced opinion on the matter.

Very good point. People are injured and hurt emotionally not so much by other people or what they say or don't say- but by attitudes and responses
