Dogs bark for many reasons.... They shock collars that everyone is recommending may not be the best solution. I too have a high energy dog that barked alot. I talked to my vet and found that the problem was that he was not burning off enough of his energy. Do you walk your dog daily and more than just once around the block ? I now take my dog with me on my nightly jogs, he is happier and quiet. If he is barking then you can bet that there is a reason.

Get her a bark collar. It will deliver a slight shock when she barks. You can set it to go off at a quiet bark or a loud bark, or anything in between.

My friend had to do this when his third-shift neighbor took him to court because his beagle would bark in the daytime. The Judge fined my friend $75. So, to avoid this in the future, he got a bark collar, and now the dog only barks when he isn't wearing it.

Or, you could some "No-Chew" spray from Wal-Mart, just don't get it in your mouth. It tastes HORRIBLE!!! Then everytime she barks, you spray her in the mouth. Eventually, she will get the hint. This way is just more owner-involved, and slower.

Well, cocker spaniels are high strung dogs. Don't get a shock collar! You can avoid "shocking" your dog.
The spritz of water may work.......

But you can also try the rocks/coins in a can technique and shake it when you don't want her to bark.

It may work, may not work. Worth a try if she's driving you crazy.

Hey there,
I feel your pain when it comes to barking dogs. I have a finished spitz who is the same. Does she/he do it all the time or only when outside? Outside I would suggest a shock collar. It seems mean but it would only need to be on short term. Once the habit is broken you should be ok. Is this dog old or young?? good luck

My dog also barked a lot. Someone told me to get a squirt bottle, fill it with water and after I told him "NO" and he barked anyway squirt him once with the bottle for each time he barks, it may take a few times but it does work. I didn't think anything was going to work to keep Yum Yum from barking, but this did!
LOL

get some obediance training in and keep your dogs brain active by teaching it new thigns all the time, a lot of exercise and lots ofa ctivities for it. I don't support them, but if it comes to it what about a bark collar which sprays citronella on the dog eahc time it barks

I reckon you should put her barking on cue - say "speak" when she is barking and then you can put a command in place to stop the barking. This does work but you have to be consistent and use rewards to start with.

This article has some strategies you could try - http://www.dog-obedience-training-review.com/how-to-stop-your-dog-from-barking.html

Good luck!

Shock collar. Much more tame than they sound. Never used one, but I have heard that they are not painful, only annoying to a dog. Then again...there probably is a better method.

PetSmart training
Cockers are hyper by nature if it's bored it will bark for attention or entertainment. It's your job to make your dog happy
