That's very sad but if she was a much older dog I would say to let it go because it is very expensive. But she is a pup so try very hard to get it done. I have seen dogs go from depressed and slow acting to so wild and happy after surgery that it makes your heart sing. Its funny I used to be a vet tech and now I am a ophthalmologist tech and people do much of the same thing. They wait and wait and after surgery they ALL say" I should have done it a long time ago" But of course they have insurance. I wish you all the luck in the world and sometimes a credit card is just the thing.

I read the other responses and there were some very good ones there; especially the ones suggesting contacting local pet organizations and rescues. The credit card is also a good alternative, but I'd limit it strictly for this purpose until it's paid off. I've been in debt and it stinks. You know, you could just get one eye fixed; having sight in one eye is better than none.
Whether you get the cataracts fixed or not, you'll need to get some anti-inflammatory eye drops to prevent Lens Induced Uveitis, which is a severe inflammatory reaction that can occur inside the eye. Needs to be done to prevent any further damage like glaucoma. I'm sure your vet told you about that, too
Just for information, puppies that are orphaned and have been fed primarily milk replacer can develop cataracts.
Best of luck to you!

She is so lucky to have you. I know you found her in a parking lot, but have you ever thought that maybe she has a family out there and she's lost? Don't know if you have contact your local animal shelters and animal control in your town to see if anyone reported her missing. If she does have a family out there, they may be heart broken thinking their poor blind dog is....well.... you know, gone for good. Also you could ask the shelter if they have any funds put aside for such repair surgeries as with your dog. Also, you could do a fund raiser and perhaps get a local high school involved with helping raise the funds or a local Catholic Church. The kids that are receiving confirmation need to do community service projects to help fullfill their obligations. Perhaps you could get a couple of kids, do a bake sale, car wash or even a 50/50 raffle...Good Luck and God Bless, you have a kind heart and it shows.
