As far as hygiene, common courtesy, and the history of the tribe of the Israelites is concerned yes.
Paganism is a older and more simple religion to follow. and is basically the same as Christianity except for the names.
Why did the Israelites turn away from the idea of Dualism that was a deep part of their religion or turn away from a Matriarchal society to a patriarchal one. that's a change from tradition also.

the Bible is a book written over a long period of time and through this time period there are what is called dispensations which is to say at certain points the rules change. None of those rules in the Old testiment are without value but some have been fulfilled or their usefulness is for the most part in the past. Celebrating Passover is a good example. Passover was part of the Law and it's purpose was to each year make a sacrifice and your sins from the time previous were forgiven. This whole portion of the law was a foreshadowing of things to come. Thus Jesus said He came to fulfill the law. He in reality was the last lamb to be sacrificed on the last passover. That is why portions of the Temple were changed upon the instant He died. "The vail was torn from top to bottom. That was the wall surrounding the Holy of Holies where previously God made contact with man and earth. After this point in time God became available to each of us and the Temple was no longer necessary. After that The Holy Spirit (that part of God available to all) was given to gentiles as well as jews because the Jews did not not accept the gift given to them and when that happened the rules changed again this time the Apostles who Jesus gave the authotity to change rules had a meeting and said Circumscission and all of those laws did not apply to gentiles and they wrote it down and sent it out. After that Paul went up to the 3rd heaven and talked to Jesus and was told some things that needed to be added now that the Apostles had changed the rules and pretty much said anything goes. He let us know that there were a certain set of behaviors that if one repeated like a habit therefor showing they were not penatent or in effect saying i like to do this in your face,, then these people would not be allowed into heaven ___malicious gossipers are one of these behaviors that stop one from entering heaven.
There are other places the rules changed but these are the ones you asked about I am just sure.

If you look at Hebrews Ch. 11, you get a very good sense of how the Old Testament and New work together. The author of Hebrews uses the Old Testament stories to enlighten the reader about faith. This is how I read the Old Testament.
Many Christians like me do not believe that the stories in Genesis are literally true but they do teach timeless truths.

The old testament is not Irrelevant. Many of the prophecies for the end of the world come from the old testament, in Isaiah i believe. There were not 2 different GODs in the Bible... they were the same person... always have and always will be... There are different standards because times have changed... do you still see everyone walking around in robes... i think not... the new testament is not more important than the old one... the old one tells us of the universe's creation... i think that is pretty important... one of the more important things in the Bible really... Paul did not lead people astray to conversion... he led them down the right path... the path of righteousness... and what is this acid trip you are talking about??? i don't recall that... tell me the exact location of it and i'll believe it... i mean book, chapter, verse... not just "Oh its in the Bible somewhere..." that doesn't tell me anything...

Jesus always quoted from the old testament. the Old testament told about the future, and they alway complement each other. God wanted everyone to worship Him, not idols. Idols can't hear, see, or speak. They can't do nothing for anyone. God gave us laws, but man added a lot more than what God had. We have to pray, and ask God to reveal the Bible to us. Each time you read a passage you find something new. I feel sorry for people who make fun of God, and people who are trying to find the truth. People that do this are blinded by Satan. Satan don't attack the People that are not saved. He already has them, but he goes after Christians, so that they can turn against God. That is how Satan plays. Read the book of Job, and see what he went through.

I think when you really study the character of God in both the old and new testament, you find that God doesn't change from one part of the bible to the next. I guess you could say that the 'law' is cast away, but this is because Jesus died on the cross in the New Testament and because of that, the law wasn't needed anymore for people to get to God. He covered the cost of man's sin in his sacrifice because he knew that on our own we couldn't do it no matter how 'good' we are. It's all grace in the New Testament which is so freeing. God shows himself as completely loving and just in the Old Testament, and that doesn't change in the New Testament. I see no 'paganism' in the New Testament, just grace and freedom through Jesus.

The laws and related practices in the old testament have served their limited purposes and have expired.
They've been replaced with those of the new covenant, which is a much better "deal" for everyone.
The biblical writings of the old testament are the inspired word of God, and will never become obsolete, or expire.

Irrelevant? Hardly.
All through the Old Testament Hebrew Scriptures is a blood-red string. It is woven throughout every book there. It's beginning is when God enlightens Satan that even though he has succeeded in enabling the downfall of man, He (God) already has a plan in place to defeat him.
One man who will live a sinless life and become mankind's sacrifice.
The string ends with the Apostle John entreating Jesus to hurry back for him.
It all fits together like an intricate, beautiful tapestry with a brilliant red theme. Read it. Study it. God's Word is the word of life and it is wonderful.

sounds like you have a whole lot of unanswered questions ...usually caused by blindness..(ignorance) of God.
Firstly.. The New testament is our school master it is the law and the prophets...which like Paul said without the law we would not have known sin. But when the law came the knowledge of sin came and sin revived and we die.
The law and the Prophets (the old testament) also testifys and prophecies of Jesus and many of the prophecies have already come to pass but not all.
He also fulfilled the Law in that when God told Adam and Eve that the day they ate of the tree they/we would surely die...so they did ..and we did too...but the payment for sin at the end of the law is Christ (God in the flesh)..reason being because no man would have been able in his corrupt blood line ...So God had to come himself in this weak flesh......hard to fathom but true ..God bless

God reveals himself in the Old Testament. He is the same God as the New Testament. The old covenant with Israel. The new covenent through Jesus Christ is available to everyone. Everyone can come to God through Jesus Christ.
Jesus is the fulfillment of the law, prophets, Holy Days, Sabbaths that are part of the Old Testament / covenant. The OT is a shadow of the things to come through Jesus Christ, fulfilled in Christ.
