It's really hard to tell if a finger is broken without an x-ray. I jammed my thumb really good once, and thought it was broken, but it wasn't. The best thing to do would be to go to the doctor's and get checked out. Meanwhile, tape your injured finger securely to the neighboring uninjured finger (be sure not to cut off blood flow to the finger). This will splint the finger, and keep it from getting damaged further. You also might try icing it, to reduce pain and swelling, and taking ibuprofen or alleve (if you aren't allergic to it).
Hope this helps!

Definately sounds like it is broken. Sometimes a bad jam looks as bad as a break. No way to really tell unless it is x-rayed. Although usually you can move a finger if it is just jammed pretty bad but with some discomfort.
You can put ice on it to relieve the swelling. Otherwise if you can not get to the ER or a doctor get a splint and put on it to protect it from getting worse. This will also help with pain by keeping it stable. If you don't have a finger splint you can get one at most local drug stores for just a few dollars. You should really get it looked at ASAP.

Don't move it. Splint it if you can with popsicle sticks and wrap in gauze or tape. Just ice it (a few minutes on, a few off) and you definitely need an xray. It sounds like it's broken from what you described.
It can get infected if it's broken and you don't get it looked at. The sooner it is set the better too.

I doubt you will get an infection, if the skin isn't broken, but you should get an x-ray to see if it is broken. You could also have some ligament damage, so it's best to get it looked at. The advice to immobilize it is good.

Wait until tomorrow...See if it still hurts and if you can't move it at all without extreme pain. I've had a broken collar bone for 2 months without being aware of it lol.

Ow! That sounds like it REALLY hurts. Props to you for being able to type that up. My advice, it is very possible that it's broken. Go to the doc and get it checked out.
Tell me how it ends up!!!

Well If you can't move it , it's swollen and it's black and blue you should go right NOW and get an x-ray to see for sure if it's broken or sprained. if it is and you ignore it , it may heal improperly and you may not be able to move it properly again!!!! so yes for sure go get an x-ray!! Be careful with your finger and good luck!!!!

It could be broken, but you can't really be sure unless you get an x-ray. If it is still bad tomorrow, go and see your doctor. Until then, ice it to reduce swelling.
