Both my mother and father are from the East Coast of the United States. Actually, they grew up just one state away from each other! Both my family lines (on my mother and father's side) descend from French Canadians. My grandparents (on both sides) actually spoke French fluently and can trace the family roots up to the Black Death in France.

My mother is from Missouri, and my father is from Kingston, Jamaica. So that makes me Jamaican-American, but I usually just label myself as an African-American.
