The light beer should be at least one or two ounces less. What's going on here?

It is the amount of calories that count, and of course you already knew that.

The reason behind this is that the 12 ounces doesn't indicate how much the beer weighs; it tells how much fluid is in the can. If you look at the can, it will say 12 fl. oz.

Light beer weighs the same as regular beer.
The formula for the beer itslef is "lighter" than regular.
12 oz. refers to the contents volume of the bottle or can.

Those are fluid ounces. The light or regular refers to concentration of product and no weight.

Fluid ounces have nothing to do with the weight of the product, just the volume. They are the same volume of liquid.

they're talking about calories and alcohol content not the weight or volume
