I have a six month old pup and basically got him potty trained in about a week and half and it was time comsuming but worth it .

I took him out every 1/2 , every time he ate about 1/2 hr after that and then right after he got up from a nap. After a few days I would extend the time on it and just keep going from there. I would say potty or outside dont use big phrases just one word and they will understand.

I did buy a small cage for when Im not at home and at nights I short leash him to the bed where he can get on the bed with me if he wants the only reason I do this is I have two cats and they need to get along a little better before I trust him fully at nights.

I dont believe in letting the dog sitting in a cage all day expect for play time especially when you are at home to take care of the dog, I just think that is to mean , I wouldnt want to be locked up all day .

If piddles on the floor I just take him to the spot where he went and let him smell it (if I catch him in the act ) I do not rub his nose in it but he can smell its his pee and then I swat his behind with a newspaper and tell him bad boy and take him right outside. When he does his business outside I do alot of praising and give him a puppy biscuit when he comes in.

My other dog that just passed away a couple of weeks ago he came to me when he had to go outside and Im hoping this puppy will to . I still have to watch him though because like yours he goes to the back door and I cant see him do that , but you will learn his schedule in time and then it will be fine and the older they get the more they can hold it and wont have to go out as much .

Good Luck

a puppy doesnt even understand the theory until about 5 months old. i used a crate inside the house by the door and he had to stay in it unless it was time to play. i would say lets go potty and open the door if he woulnt go out then i would put him out. if i didnt think he pottied he would go back in the crate. put its food and water in there because they wont use the bathroom where there food is so it will learn to hold it until you let it out .but make it go out as soon as you let it out of the crate. Good luck it worked for me they'll eventually learn when you say lets go and potty and open the door it will know what you want it to do.

I used peepee pads with my dog. Then I would put a leash on her and walk her to the door I wanted her to go to. Then I would give her a treat when she did good. Never carry her to the door. I did that for 2 weeks . Now she goes to the door and barks I let outside then when she comein I give her a treat... GOOD LUCK

Hang a bell on your door know - low enough for your dog to reach. Each time you take the dog out, ring the bell. Be patient, and do this for a week. Then, take your dog's paw and have him ring the bell. Eventually, he will get the idea. Be patient and good luck.

Persistence is the key. you can't expect your puppy to bark to let you know its time to go outside. As others have said, YOU have to take him out. You've got a new puppy and that means its your responsibility to be watching him. I take mine out every half hour. My older dogs bladder is now strong enough that he holds it until whenever he actually gets let out. Your puppy's bladder will develop over time and until then you just have to help him out.

feed ur puppy only at sertian times. 2 times a day morning/ afternoon or night. pick a time and stick to it. the dog will be on scedual to sh** or piss. i do this with my 2 dogs. they go about a hour after eating . and make sure to take out when u wake up in the morning. they will have to go then too.

You need to hang a bell from the door handle and teach him to give it a nudge when he needs to go out.

This article explains how to do it - http://www.dog-obedience-training-review.com/puppy-house-training.html

It is fairly easy to do - good luck.

You just need to diligently take him out. Possibly crate train him first. I never did because as soon as my sibe started to act like she was going to squat I put her out. It takes lots of time, at least for the first week or so.
