you could probably go online and get pet insurance and then wait a couple of months... and then go to a diffrent vet and get the surgery done.

Just look up pet insurance... and then and contact them and see what kind of things that they cover... mention to them that when you were little you had a cockerspaniel that got cateracts and your parents couldnt afford it and you want to know if the dog would be cover if something like that ever happened.

Since I don't know what state you live in I cannot give you specifics, but...

When I found my dogs, I got them spayed and neutered through a group who helped pay for the operations.

I would suggest you try and contact an animal rescue group in your area and ask them.

Also! When I filled out my application for the help with the fees, I sent along a pre-thank you note, not intentionally to get something "free" but instead of sending me help for having one dog "fixed", they sent me TWO coupons, one for each dog!! (I was so relieved and thrilled to receive that help!)

Well... I told my mom in law about it. She works with rescuing and helping out people getting pets "fixed" and she said in all the time she had done her work not ONE person had ever sent her a thankyou note!

Isn't that a shame?

So... when you ask for help...

Be polite and you might get more than you ask for :)

Good luck with your new little one...

AG

PS My little dog just lost his sight this year due to cataracts :( There is a vet in my town that does the surgery, but we cannot afford anything right now... I didn't even bother to ask how much it was :(((

Good luck to you *HUG*

I've never heard of a pup having cataracts? Your vet would probably be the best source for info for creditable clinic that would do it for a reduced price.
And may God Bless your kind heart the puppy is very lucky you found her!

Oh, I agree, a million blessings on you. But, dogs sense the world much more by their noses than their eyes, and if your dog has been blind since birth, which is probably the case, she will probably cope quite well without surgery, especially if kept in a familiar environment.

I work for Petsmart so I get a lot of people asking me of any places that could help. The only thing I could think of it to contact a adoption group and ask them if they know of any origination that you could go to that could help or even if they could help. Adoption groups deal with these kinds of things everyday so they should know who to talk to. Oh and just a little friendly tip the blue dawn dish washing soap kills fleas. But it has to be the blue kind.

Try to find a local animal rescue organization. If you can't find one in the phone book, try calling the ASPCA. Your local vet can also give you more information on who might provide help. What area of the country do you live in?

9 mos old with cataracts? That sounds insane.

Good luck finding the resources you need, I now where I live, there aren't any.

Ask your vet for a discount and a payment plan. Then ask friends, relatives and coworkers for donations. $5 from several people adds up quick.
Good luck

contact your local humane society and see if they have any programs.

you can also apply online for CareCredit which you use like a credit card for your pet at the vet and can also be used for yourself. It's a great perk to have with pets.

good luck

Many humane societies have ways to help with this type of thing. Also, if she is any type of breed you could identify, you could contact that breed's rescue organization for help.
