First of all, where is "here"?
Mexico? England? Canada? US?
As far as the US, no you don't get a "pass" legally. If you're here illegally, you're here illegally.
The exception is, in the 1980's our government had an imigration amnesty, where if you could prove you were here for a certain length of time, you could officially stay, but it was a one time deal.
The fact that we have the huge proglem we now have, is proof that this idea accomplished nothing.

Why should illegals be rewarded for being here the longest?
That would be like giving amnesty to a burglar because he's been breaking into homes for 10 years.
A person shouldn't be rewarded just because he's alluded the authorities for five years.
Wow, let's all break laws and see how long we can do it without getting caught. We might win something!

Because now we subsidize services for poor people as we didn't used to, and they cost too much, and the drain on funds ruins schools and health care and services for our own people. Why should we pay for them at the expense of our own?

We have legal channles for immigration, any one is more then welcome to come to America, just need to do it the proper way.
