I know I focus on myself too much to worry about kids. I would rather not have them and just have a dog. My Husband already has kids from a previous marraige so he could care less. What do you think?

excellent!!! don't have kids. That's the problem with this world, people have children that they don't want.

Thank You for making a moral decision.
No one should tell you to have children.

Well I feel the same way - I lead a life that I am the center of and I like it that way. I have all the freedom in the world and a very spoiled dog to nurture. Its good that you realize the real responsibility of parenting and understand that it may not be right for your lifestyle. Some people think parenting is like playing house or something and it's work, it's the real deal. If you don't want to have kids its perfectly fine.

Seriously, I wish more people were as honest with themselves as you are about your desire to have children. You have to really want to be a parent to deal with all the things the job entails and to do it well, you have to love it. Not all parents believe in their heart that it was worth it. I know several people who didn't seriously want them and had them anyway and now regret it. The worst part is, they can't talk about it to anyone without sounding like bad people, which they are not. Not all parents are good ones, and not all kids are a joy either. That is reality.

I don't know how old you are, but if you are not ready to have kids, then don't until you are, if ever. If the time comes and you want them, but have missed the boat biologically, there are a lot of children out there that need good homes. You can adopt any time.

well if you don't want kids and you prefer a dog then do that...But think about this when you leave this earth nothing will be left here of you.
Atleast when i do die i will have left behide a part of me (My beautiful son)

Their is nothing like having a baby and the love for a child. If you don't want kids (Then don't) but if it is that of your husband that dont want any (with you) cause he already has a few of his own and that is making you think that you shouldn't have kids then i would not think like that....

I could not imagine life without my son. I have a life. Just because people has kids does not mean they don't have a life.

Think of it this was what if your mom thought like you and didn't have you?

But it is your life, not mine

I have several friends who have chosen not to have kids. While I think it is sad in a way, because of the great joy kids can bring to your life, I also think it's vital to know your limitations.

If kids aren't your thing, and you're with a husband who is fine with not having one with you, then go forth and enjoy life. However, do yourself an enormous favor and have a tubal ligation. It would be truly horrible to have some cosmic accident and find yourself pregnant when you know you wouldn't be happy as a mother. Tie your tubes so you never have to face the question of abortion, adoption or keeping an unwanted child.

sorry to hear ir isnt your thing, and thats fine. But have you ever wonderd what life will be like 10 years down the road, when you have lost the chance of having a baby? When my husband was putting off having kids i was ready to leave him, casue i didnt think my life would have any meaning. Looking into the future, it looked so lonely. But thats just me. I find now a days people are so in the now, no body thinks about thefuture till it is too late. but if you really dont want to, then dont, atleast you wont be one of those people that bring an unwanted baby into the world.

I think there is nothing wrong with not having children. I actaully applaud you for knowing enough about yourself to know that you'd do better without kids. Too many people cave to societies pressures to have kids when they really don't want them. However, I do not feel that having kids = not having a life which is what your question implies. I have kids and I have a life. It may be different than your but I'm happy with it.

If you don't want to then you don't have too. Many people have kids and want kids but some just don't. People that have kids have a great life too, you know. Having children doesn't mean you wont have a life. Do what makes you happy.

If you do not want to have any kids then don't. Noone will force that on you. Be proud of yourself for standing up & saying you would rather focus on your life. Don't feel bad because you don't want to have kids. They are a LOT of responciblity and work. They are FOREVER not temp. Some people are meant to have kids & some are not. Do what makes YOU happy.

Good luck!

I think there is nothing wrong with that at all. I was very content having me, my husband and my dog for 9 years. We changed our minds a few years ago and started a family. Just make sure you are certian as it could be difficult to reverse if you change your mind down the line if you are thinking of doing something medical to keep it from happening.

A lot of people I know are exactly the same, myself included. Just because you do not live your life to what society thinks is the norm does not mean you do not have a great life. Enjoy yourself and do not worry about it. Everyone is not meant to be a parent.
