When ur watching a program about decorating your home, why is
every single house white in the inside. WHY? Everybody has the same walls, the same carpets, and the same style of kitchen. Which ever home one visits, its the same thing. WHY?

It's called "Builder Beige" and it's what people want to see when they walk into a new house. Color does frighten 80% of the population. The other 20% who aren't afraid of color aren't afraid of Builder Beige either, and know they can paint it.

Everything is white on TV programs because you are supposed to focus on the furnishings. It wouldn't be easy to keep attention on the upholstery, pillows, wall hangings, etc. if viewers can be distracted by the patterns in the carpet or wallpaper, or the color of the rugs and walls. The rooms are meant to be a blank "canvas" for the decorating "artist". Frankly it is unrealistic and I have never seen a room from a decorating program or magazine that I would want to live with in my home.

I think when people are looking to buy a home it looks bigger and brighter when the walls are white or off-white and the carpets are neutral. It's also easier to visualize your own color choices when the walls aren't already painted. A nice modern dusty rose color to one person that went well with their walnut dining room set and the area rug might look like funky orange to a prospective buyer of the home once it's empty.
me on the other hand... I have every room in my house painted a slightly different color, so it gives depth and dimension to each room...gradually. I have bold neutral colors. Some are dark, some are light. I personally like to make my home an expression of who my family is. Multi talented and warm beings in our own unique ways.
Why though, to answer your question? Not sure, baby. Sorry. Good point.

Honestly, I rarely see the inside of homes to be white. I usually see it all sorts of colors especially the walls with white being the trims or something small like that. I have never seen the same carpet anywhere. Maybe the shows you've been watching are white inside the homes so you can see it better. If you have dark furniture and dark walls, all you'll see is dark.

All color gives the different feeling. White or light color is easy to decorate with ANY Thing you wanted to put in. Easy to see the dirt in case you need to live in the very clean house. Elegant look, lighter color makes the house lithe up save energies.
ARLENE H is right; it's also easy to cover up with whatever color you want to change. When I build my house I picked the eggshell color. Right now, I painted the hold fireplace wall to brown. That area is darker than before…I wanted to paint my bedroom to red….red make you feel not relax..I think I might stay awaken all night lone.. 

I don't watch TV so I wouldn't know, but if that's the case, I suppose my house would be disqualified. Downstairs, light on dark grey ragrolling in the living room and hall, the 2 shades of grey in the office (the darker) and the guest room (lighter). The bathroom is peach with grey tile, peach and grey accent tiles, in the tub. Upstairs, still a work in progress.

White goes with everything and builders or sellers don't want to repaint inorder to sell. Most tract houses have abour 4 floorplans they use with the most economical appliances. With houses selling starting a about a million they have to try to keep prices down. You move in an paint any color you want.

well if its a decorating show then it seems like they are getting ready to add color. Do you think walls are put up with color automatically? No. They start out white and you add color from there. At some point they would have to be white then wouldnt they?
