She puts them in her mouth and insists I put her on the bed (she can't reach). It's the same 4 tiny stuffed animals every time. Are they her "babies"? She sleeps on my bed every night, by the way.

Possibly instinct? Probably because she sounds like an indoor dog, she doesn't have any place to "dig".

She wants to keep them close to her, for security! That's very cute!

Mine does the same with her food every night. She has to bury each pie e before she eats it, and some she saves for later. I wondered why she did this and found that the readers who said it was their nature was right. They were red to dig and burrow for badgers and they would hoard their food for safe keeping. It's cute, really.

YOUR DOG HAS AN AGGRESSIVE BEHAVIOUR BECAUSE OF BEING PENT UP ALL DAY. HE NEEDS EXCERSIZE TO RELIEVE TENSION. YOU ARE TREATING IT LIKE A CHILD INSTEAD OF A DOG. IF HE CAN'T GET ON THE BED THEN YOU ARE THE ,PROBLEM, NOT THE DOG. DOGS ARE FOLLOWERS, THEY EXPECT TO BE LED, DIRECTED, DISIPLINED. YOU HAVE TO GROW UP, BE THE ADULT, LEARN TO BE A LEADER AND TAKE CONTROL OF THE DOG, NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND.ONCE HE LEARNS WHO THE PACK LEADER IS, HE WILL DO WHAT HE IS TOLD TO DO.

Dachshunds are scent hounds so they love to bury and dig and burrow themselves. It is their nature.
