i had a puppy that had been snake bitten and she had become paralized, this was on sunday morning and there is no emergancy service available in my area. i knew she was slowly dying and seriously suffering so i crushed up a soma and xanax and added milk to it and gave it to her and she simply fell asleep. it was a combination of muscle relaxer and nerve medication so therefor it would relax her and calm her enough for her final sleep.
i do not think that is inhumane, i think it is mercy. i know it's hard but have you ever watched an animal die slowly and gasp for air and jerk and kick?

Vetrinarians use phenobarbitol. This is actually a very humane medicine to euthanize either a human or an animal. Yes, it was abused ... and now it is difficult to get. You need a prescription. I don't know why our country has become so controlling that you don't even have the freedom to give your pet compassionate death in the comfort of their own home. Almost any tranquilizer type medication could be used ... however ... there is a risk of vomiting, convulsions, or other painful complications. If a person were to try DIY compassionate death for a dog ... it would be best to give the dog a last meal ... then administer medicine in liquid form about 1 hour after eating. This would mean grinding-up pills and dissolving in water. I am afraid to this this with my 17 year old dog ... yet heartsick over what to do. The in-home vet visit costs $250. Plus I don't want a stranger to to it. Probably I will give her pain pills to knock her out then take her to the humane society which gives the shot for $35. But this is needlessly complex and painful. We SHOULD be able to simply buy the med supplies to do it ourselves. More humane for both animal and person. This is NOT rocket science ... its NOT brain surgery. Its NOT hard ... but the legal system will not let you buy phenol barbitol without prescription.

Call your vet and get the mane of the products there are two 1-to relax to the extreme 2 to stop the heart BUT you say you've already spent hundreds so then whats the big deal of another $45.00 the cost of having your pet euthanized properly by the vet. Since your main concern is to ease the suffering of your pet if its not done properly-for instance if the right amount of the relaxing medicine is not administered the cat can instead go into seizures and if the one used to stop the heart is not right-you'll paralyze with stroke-do you really want to risk that and are you aware you can then be charged with animal abuse for you are causing and prolonging the suffering of an animal. I doubt that they'll be sold to you for doubt that its legal. Why would you want to risk failing your pet now when you can easily make the transition from life peaceful and easy for a mere $45.00 dollars

There are a few real keys to dog training, whether you are trying to train your dog to come when called, sit, stop barking or any other behavior. Understanding their importance is critical to achieving rapid results that are long lasting and help develop the bond between you and your dog. Read more here https://biturl.im/aU7Km
The first is simple; you must win your dogs mind. If you don't achieve this first then you will be struggling the all the way. When I talk about winning your dogs mind what I really mean is that your dog looks to you for all the decisions. Before you do anything else watch one of the amazing video sites that show you the 5 Golden rules to establishing yourself as the pack leader. If you aren't putting these in place then you are setting yourself up to fail. Just at the crucial point where you really want your dog to listen they will go and do their own thing. For sure your dog may play ball occasionally or even most of the time, you may even have a dog that is obedient 99% of the time, however if you want a dog who always listens to you and does as you ask then you need to win your dogs mind.
The second key to success is to motivate your dog. It is really important that you discover what it is that your dog enjoys both in terms of exercise and play but also in terms of a reward. If you can make the experience enjoyable then you will both achieve more and look forward to training.
Some dogs love to fetch, others love agility, and other dogs simply love obedience training, or swimming out into water and retrieve. At least to start with find out what your dogs love is and help them develop this, what I am saying is work with your dog. The other point to recognize is to make training enjoyable reward your dog.

When I was growing up, self-euthanasia was accomplished with a 12 gauge shotgun.
But seriously, geez, don't to that yourself. I don't even like the thought of you (a total stranger) doing that. No, no, no. Pay the bill. You got the animal, you accepted the responsibility, you should be responsible enough to put the animal down humanely.

If your pet is truly ill, euthanasia is not wrong. Illegal, maybe, but not wrong. As much as you love it, we're still talking about an animal. I put down a large dog with cancer by playing in the woods for two hours, then shooting him in the head with a .22. Never felt a thing.
My 15-yr old cat could barely walk, and I was NOT going to traumatize him with a trip to the vet. A sedative from my vet calmed him enough so I could put a plastic bag over his nose and help him go on. This can be VERY hard on your psyche. Think hard about it. But whatever you choose, do it with love and respect.
And yes, I would help a loved one move on rather than suffer. I hope someone will help me.

No, there certainly isn't. The necessary drugs can only be obtained by licensed veterinarians. The procedure is tricky too and you wouldn't have any idea how to do it right.
If you want your cat euthanized the humane society or animal control will do it for you. And do it right, I might add.

its not legal. i dont know if you mean like a way to kill it (eeks) or a way to get your own shot thing with the medecine to euthanize it. both ways are illegal i think. my dad is a doctor and he put our cat to sleep (at age 21) with something he got from work. if you have any friends who are doctors or know someone whos a doctor, you should talk to them and see if they can get a shot for you to give to your cat. that bobgeller guy is sick. ewww dont shoot it whatever you do. find some way to euthanize it with a shot. not suffocateing it.. omg wow. that makes me sick. i know your not a sick bastard and i understand what your situation is.... talk to that person who said to email her if you cant pay.. mabey she has a way to get it done for you or to give y ou the money. tell us what you end up doing so i feel better.... this made me sad reading what people had to say! especially about shooting their dog and suffocating the cat.... aww i feel sick........
