i asked earlier about my 17 year old son who i believe is sleeping with a 24 year old. i asked if i could take her to court and the answers i got were mostly no's because the state law in south carolina indicated a male can make his own sexual decisions at 16. the source the person left is listed below, but i am confused. i saw another young lady's question that is sleeping with an older man and everyone said her mother can take him to court. i am very confused. maybe i need to just speak with a lawyer?

That website is absolutely ridiculous! And why are there different ages for girls and boys!
Do you really think a 14yo girl can make that kind of judgment about sex? I mean, a man can talk her into doing something because she's so young.
I'm in SC also & I've never heard that it's ok for a 14yo girl to have sex with a man. But anyway, if I were you I'd talk to a lawyer. But if your son is close to 18 it might not be worth the trouble because it could drag out for a long time, and he could resent you and you could lose him over this. Unless she's introducing him to drugs or alcohol it might be better left alone to keep him in your life. You don't want him running away to be with her.
GOOD LUCK!

You can talk to a lawyer, but at 17, why not just leave it alone. In ANY state, he will be legal on his next birthday. You have nothing to gain here and will only alienate your son.
