I need to do a project on Ivory Coast

because it was a former french colony. the natives are of different ethnic groups, and so speak a multitude of different dialects and languages. this, besides the fact that education was almost entirely given in french, made it easier for everybody to ahve french as a national language.

for your project you better go deeper than that

Because they were a French colony. France got there and decided that despite the fact that people had been living there long before they landed, it was now French territory and thus had everything French imposed onto them.

It was a French colony, conquered and pretty much converted by the French. They taught everyone the language and it stuck.

it was a french colony, and it never gave up the languages. Same reason why Nimbia speeks german, another african country.
