Yes. Like mars did. If the magnetic field generated by the earth stops, it will cause the ionshpere (Van Allen Belt) protecting the earth from solar radition to fail. The earths atmosphere would then be stripped off by ionized particles from the sun. Once the atmosphere is gone, naturally all of the H2O would evaporate into space.

Your roommate is right. You will never run out of water but good clean water is not something you should take for granted. The more water you use, the less of it there is for everyone.
About your roomate, tell him that there is never enough water you can shoot up his nose that will clean his sick and twisted mind.

No. Fresh water is replaced every day by rainfall. Most fresh water humans use is for irrigating crops. Domestic use is only a small fraction. However it costs money to provide clean water for domestic use and you pay for it through your taxes. As the population grows in a given area, demand for fresh water can outstrip supply of fresh water, so in effect, a city could temporarilly run out of fresh water, particularly in a dry year.

We will not run out of water but still you shouldn't waste it. It is just money down the drain. It can be expensive to get to your tap. For example here in So Cal our water comes at the expense of some irritated northern Californians

HUGE difference between water & drinking water. Most of earths water is NOT drinkable, can't shower with it nor grow plants with it. There is a big shortage of culinary water globally now !

Your roommate is dead wrong, and not cautious about environmental issues. Yes, we could run out of water someday. It's a horrible thought. We all need to conserve.

Yes, we will be running out of water. The oceans are saltwater and therefore can't be drunk.
