a little while ago my ex-GF was picking up a large portion of my book so she could edit it, well i go inside for a minute and when i go back out all of a sudden her new BF slapped her hard. Without thinking and purly out of instinct i attack him and assuming the worst, i think i broke his ribs and arm, and broke my front door while i was at it.
so anyways, my ex-GF started yelling at me and tended to her BF, so after calling the ambulance and police and so on, they take him to the hospital and she leaves with him. while i spend a night in jail =(.
so my question is: Did i over react to this whole thing, should i have controlled my emotions better? Should i apoligize to her?

I think your initial reaction was noble and not an overreaction. . .but you may have wanted to NOT break any bones in the process of protecting your friend.
She was probably yelling at you because of the "awkward" situation - old boyfriend coming to her rescue in front of new boyfriend, which in my estimation means SHE owes you an apology.
Nevertheless, I'd talk to her about your concern over the abuse she may be taking from this guy.
Too bad about the night in jail, you did a decent thing...it just got out of hand.

U GO BOY=-)

U did what is called a reflex action. U saw that he had hurt and attacked her so u without thinking attack him because it was as if u saw a child being hurt or trapped under a car. It was only because he attacked her and u didn't like seeing him hurt her. She's the one who over reacted she should have known that u were doing it because u were protecting her.

He shouldn't have hit her and I glad u attack him to let him see what it feels like to have someone to over power them. He should have been the one going to jail.

Did u overact no I don't think so the only thing I'm sorry over is now u have to replace ur door.

The thing about controlling your emotions u were showing emotion when u stood up for her

Apologize for the fact that she is hooked up with a guy who hits her and who she will side with after someone comes to her aid.

I would apologize to her for jumping into her business like that and explain why you did what you did. However, I think you were right to lay into him. No man has a right to put his hands on a woman like that. You right for sticking up for her I would also find out what is going on in this relationship obviously you two have a good relationship for being exes. I would try to be there for her as a good listener and give her the advice to get out because this man will just keep beating her. Good Luck to you and no matter what she says you were right.

I think you did over reacted but just a little, I would've kick him out hard but never get to the point of breaking my own door. He deserve what he got for being such an *** and your ex sure is silly is she's gonna let some idiot treat her like that.

You could apoligize to her if it makes you feel better but just also let her know that it hurt you to see someone hitting her. Remind her that no man she be hitting her. Let her know that if she ever needs to talk you are there for her. I do not think that you overreacted most men would have done the same thing.

personally, I think what you did was right. No guy should ever hit a girl. But I would offer a piece of the olive branch to her if i were you and apologize, perhaps explain your actions.

I wouldn't apologize to anybody.
You need to cool your temper.
Definitely, get some counseling. It may help, in the future.
BTW: Leave those two alone, you could wind up in the penitentiary and they would not be worth it.
