For me the term faith can best be described by allowing your 10 year old to go to summer "Bible Camp" with "Pastor Jim"

Many have quoted Hebrews 11:1. Now faith is the substance of things hoped for; the evidence of things not seen. In short the substance of hope and the evidence of the unseen. Now water is a substance and evidence is proof.

Faith calls what is hoped for into existence. It allows spiritual sight of things which, although taking place in the physical world, cannot be seen with the physical eye.

Faith is a gift of God for it is a sense of God, a knowing akin to intuition and far removed from belief. The devil believes as do millions of people; but only faith is pleasing to God.

Belief is nothing but mental assent, consent or agreement. Faith is both a gift of God and a human ability. Faith is not believing what you can't prove. Faith is proving what other people can't believe.

Belief will take you to the waters edge. Only faith will walk it.

Faith is a substance to something that you are believing for but this thing doesn't exist yet in the physical realm. By your faith, this thing comes to existence. It doesn't matter how big your faith is when you start believing in that something, because faith will become bigger if you keep maintaining it in your spirit ... what's matter is that you maintain that faith until the realization of what you are expecting for. Don't forget, faith is a substance (Hebrew 11:1).

"Faith" can be something beautiful as in "confidence or trust in a person or thing: faith in another's ability," - definition 1 from Wikipedia. It's only when faith is expected without cause or reason that it can become twisted - as with your Pastor Jim analogy.

Personally, I think we should all begin with a serious dose of faith in self before we venture into unknown waters.

Faith means to me believing good things will come to those who believe in a higher power other then them selves. As for summer camp I'm not so sure I personally would let my 10 year old go unless I went along as a chaperon but to each his /her own. i loved bible school as a child but I went home every night and that was a good thing.

Rigth now you have faith in your chair that it will not break on you.

Faith is trust. We all have, and operate in faith every moment of our lives. When i open up a packet of Cornflakes for breakfast i dont take it to a science lab to test it for poison everytime i eat it. I trust in its consistancy.

When we put our faith in people, sometimes it can fail, as no human is perfect even your mentioned "Pastor Jim." He to, is an imperfect man, perhaps trying, but still failing.

"For we all fall oceans short"

The best Type of faith to have is in something or someone incorruptable,
indestructable,
eternal and Trustworthy. your maker God. (-:

That is funny. For me faith is "The substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things unseen." But faith is not the end. All things can be known not just hoped in. We can know God lives. We can know Christ is our savior. We can know the scriptures are the word of God. "Ask and you shall recieve, Knock and it shall be opened unto you." I will leave you with a Chapter link. http://scriptures.lds.org/en/alma/32

I hope this can help. If you really want to know.

I have faith, that when I get up in the morning, there will still be air to breath, sun to shine, their will be day and night, and ther will be God to trust. He is a way of life, just like breathing.
