Get a rope and tie knots in it every two feet along the rope. Make sure the knots are big enought to grap onto with your hands and feet when you climb on it. The knots are for gripping. A more complicated form, but much easier to climb back up with is to tie a loop in the rope every two feet (insted of knots) so you can get your hand and your foot in the loop.

You need to be quite strong to climb up the rope, and you would need away to bring up the object (with another rope) in case you can't carry it back up when you climb down and need to climb back up with both hands and both feet.

In other words it is more work than it is worth, and you have a chance of getting hurt. So wait for your neighbor to come home.

Take your piece of rope and cut it in two. Tie a knot in your rope ladder (both sides of ladder) about a foot from the end. Then take your piece of wood which you will step on and drill two holes... one at each end. Thread this down the rope so it sits on the knots. then continue by tying knots every foot and threading the latts until your ladder is the right lenght.

You will be able to climb easier if you secure the rope at both ends.

Get two tent pegs and tie each rope to them at the bottom end of your ladder and hammer into the ground. Then tie the ladder at the top of a tree of wherever the rope ladder is for tight and securely. If you want the ladder to be mobile. then tie weights to the bottom of the rope ladder and hoist up after you when your in your tree house etc...

Depending on how complicated you want it to be. The more complicated the easier you can move down but high cost of buying the rope to make 'em into ladder.

Well, conventional way (Scout), they just use a 13mm diamter JUT rope or Rope throw down,.. and go down.

When you want to go up, you just need to climb up the rope.. and this tatic what we call at ROPE CLIMBING.

Why can't you just go downstairs, put a chair in the door so you don't lock yourself out, go pick it up and bring it back with you...? Are you trying not to be seen by someone...?
