You've asked three questions here:
Is it counterproductive to study and learn about Christianity?
Yes, it is. I agree completely.
Is it best to accept it without question...?
Hell no. Question it and discover its nonsense and then chuck it in the bin.
Why do Christians learn it...?
Because they apparently like to waste their time being counterproductive...
.............................................................................
On learning:
Wouldn't it be better if everyone practiced the spread of truthful reality backed-up by verifiable data and hard evidence while relying only on the most credible of theories to fill the unknown gaps until further evidence became available?
If given the option of trusting God to deliver the solutions for mans' struggle to survive, or trusting in man to divine his own security by invention, ingenuity and cleverness... I choose man.

unquestionably, till my daughter declared her minor as women human beings's study i might have agreed with you. interior the 60's and 70's whilst i grow to be in college, "woman's study" grow to be in many situations guy hating women human beings, in many situations yet not continually lesbians who have been creating portion of pushing an time table and the study appeared to wander off. After auditing some classes and examining the fairly some books, i'm shocked to income how lots of the contributions of girls human beings have been for loss of a greater advantageous be conscious suppressed. i think of as one greater historic past, it extremely is unquestionably a stable undertaking and correctly taught, not as a get inspite of the evil repressive adult males, yet as a whats up, check out this, we are fairly ok as a gender and as human beings, women human beings's study makes greater healthy greater even relationships between the genders and much less opposition. adult males could be inspired to take the classes. basically a thought we are all fairly particular, we could continually all be attentive to why

Well.. the basic concept of Christianity is simple, but the big picture is hard to understand. God is amazing and unpredictable. We Christians don't know everything there is to know about Him, so we like to learn more and more every day. No one knows the Bible by heart, so we read it again and again to learn more things about what God has done to the world.

Actually you are exactly wrong. If we truly love God then it makes sense that we would want to know him better. Think of someone who you love. Do you try to learn more or less about them? We love Christ so we learn more about him. As we learn our faith grows stronger because any questions that arise are answered. Can you say the same? How much do you know of him? How strong or weak is your faith?

don't know where the "studying" fad came from, but yes, i always felt that way. faith is faith. there is no alternate definition of it. you either have faith or you don't. i suppose what the basis of people saying they're "studying" it comes from what are called Jesus' desert years, where He wandered the desert and questioned His very existence, His purpose in life, and came to His own realization of just who He was. christians are encouraged to question the faith, to explore all the angles and possibilities of seemingly inexplicable acts of God. the hope in this is to have the christian come to his or her own conclusion that indeed God does exist, that Jesus Christ was His only son, and that the Virgin Mary gave birth to Jesus. back in the day, when i was in catholic school, we were ABSOLUTELY ENCOURAGED to investigate the miracles in the bible on our own, so that we could actually come to our own conclusions about each event. i hope this enlightened you on the subject. i wish you luck and thank you very much for the soapbox and the points!! blessed be!

This is purely my opinion but....
Yes, the CONCEPT of Christianity is somewhat simple. God clothed himself in flesh and died a horrible death to save humanity from death. However, one has to study the bible in order to find out what God expects of people in order for them to recieve their salvation. One must also study to learn how to live their daily lives the way christ would want. If one just accepts what they are told without question, they are just setting themselves up to be taken advantage of. This is why most clergy give their text when preaching a sermon, because it gives validity to their sermon.

Wow that was deep... so you just accept it but then never test it. you are talking like it cannot stand up to a question or an issue, when in fact it has withstood all ... truly study and look for an answer and you shall find it...

I agree, too. It's when I started to investigate my faith, that I discovered how inconsistent it actually was, and then I came to the conclusion that it's simply not true.
