An example would be a tree. God is the trunk, Jesus is the branches and the life that flows through the tree is the Holy Spirit every person is a little bud on the tree, some get much of the life and grows to be a riped fruit, others grow a little then stop and some dry up and fall off. John 15: 1 will explain it in greater detail.
John 10: 30 "I and the father are one" John 14: 7-17,

He is not, Jesus is the son of Joseph his real father, Jesus went into the wilderness and starved himself till he hallucinated and got a vision of what he in his own mind thought was God, the same way the natives do to this day, this is how all religious myths come about, Christianity Mormons Jehovah Islam to name a few, these prophets all say the same thing, there are studies today with LSD a hallucinating drug, what is amazing is all their volunteers all say they seen God go figure.

Hey Steve,

You are correct about Jesus fasting and praying, it was actually 40 days, but that is not really relitive to your question.

Jesus, or Jehova, is the God of the Old Testament becuase He is the Creator of this earth and universe. He has a Heavenly Father who is God the father, and the God of the New Testament, becuase he sent His Son here to earth to experience mortality as we do, that he can stand as a mediator for us before God. He was also the only one who could atone, or satisfy the price of justice and mercy, for our sins.

God the Father, and His Son Jesus Christ are not the same person but two seperate and distinct persons with one purpose, " To bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man."

They work together similar to a sports team, seperate entities but one team with a single focus.
That is why many people are confused about the the fact that, God the Father, God the Son and the Holy Ghost are one person. As I mentioned before, they are seperate and distinct persons with the same goal in mind for all of God's children, us.
Isn't great to know that we have a Father who loves us enough that he would create a world for us and create a way for us to return to live with Him.

good question I never really got it either. If he is the "son" why do you say praise Jesus (the lesser one)? Hpw can God have a "son"??? And does that mean if Jesus "mated" god would have grandkids :-S? Which means we could have ancestory to God (god forgive me for even suggesting these slanderous scenarios lol) And...this trinity thing says Jesus is God in his third form?? Which would mean he is the same entity in a different form, so why would he pray to himself? That means Jesus had no power of the future if he himself had to ask God for help. Islam makes more sense. He was a prophet. Peace.

Steve....

Please keep your reasoning... You are correct on your logic of thinking of what the Bible is actually teaching.

The 3 in 1 theory.....God and Jesus being the same person?? Come on... REALLY, I'm supposed to believe that.... And with that type of believing we wonder why people don't believe.... This theory is absolutely confusion, as some who have that belief mentioned, its makes completely no sense AT ALL.

Furthermore........ There is no way..... Jesus and God being the same person or even equal. Just like my daughter is NOT at all equal to me.

Jesus Is God, The Father is God, The Holy Spirit is God, What makes them God is that they all have the same atributes Kinda like water, we have Water, Ice Steam, three completley different things, yet still H2O one thing. So when you say God who are you talking about.

Now in refrence to Jesus, when he became flesh, he gave up certain atributes , omnipresense, size ect. and became poor and as a servant, not to be served. when he prayed he spoke to the Father, not himself, when he fasted in the desert for "40" this was to make him weak, and this is when the devil likes to attack, when our resistance is at it's least. this was to prove that he could stand up to the temptation (He had to prove himself worthy of being a savior, he had to lead a sinless life, and not owe the penalty of death, even with temptation), which he was led into by the holy spirit, and why when he gave us the Lords prayer he instructed us to pray not to be led into temptation, but delivered from evil. if he made mention of it, it was certainly difficult, and the possibility of failure was very real, had he fallen to temptation he would have been disqualified as a savior, and we would indeed have all been lost. So he was God, but for a little while without all his attributes, and required to obey the will of God the Father.

It's complicated. God is Jesus and Jesus is God. And they're both the Holy Spirit. It's called the Trinity. God, the Son (Jesus), and the Holy Spirit are one, in a sense. It's REALLY hard to explain. I don't fully understand it and I'm a regular church attendee and a good Christian. I hope this helps some.

Catholics (and most Christians in general, I think) believe that Jesus was/is 100% human *AND* 100% divine (meaning, God). When Jesus lived his human life, he lived it just as the rest of us do. There was definately something "different" about him, but for the most part, he understood God as any other Jew of the time. So when he prayed to God, he prayed to someone outside of himself.

At the root of your question is trinitarian theology. The Triune God is three "persons" but one "being." This doesn't mean there are three parts of God floating around or that God is somehow subject to split personalities... remember, we are dealing with the transcendental divine that is not bound by space and time. Our understanding of the 3-D universe and time and whatnot limits how we express this idea, which is one of the reasons we consider it a "mystery."

There are three divine persons of which Jesus is one. Jesus is God, but he is not the Father nor is He the Spirit.

It's a divine mystery. 1+1+1=3
