When your husband throws the garter, does the person who catches it return it to the bride and groom or do they keep it as a souvenir of the wedding?

never wear the garter that you wanna keep. wear a rinky dink one and throw that away. That person keeps it. I had on one that i really wanted to keep on my upper thigh and the one that i wanted hubby to give away was a dinky ulgy one. Goodluck and have fun.

I am getting married next year and we have decided that instead of my fiance throwing the garter, we are going to auction it off. Many weddings that we have been to do that, although it is something I hadn't heard of it until I had moved to the Midwest. It's a fun twist on the traditional garter ceremony. Anyhow, to answer your question, get 2 garters. One for you to keep as a souvenir and the other to offer to your guests. The person who catches your garter is the one who keeps it.

the one you throw is kept by the person who it is put on. that is if you do that. the groom removes it from the bride and tosses it to the single guys. the guy who catches it puts it on the lady who catches the bouquet. so unless she gives it back, she gets to keep it. but it they just take a picture together, then he gets to keep it. some brides wear more than one. on to keep and one to toss.

It's best to have 2 garters. One to be tossed and one for your future husband to keep.

Usually you buy two of them. You would wear both of them. The nice one you put at the top and the throw away is at the bottom, so the groom would get that one first and then throw that one. The other one you take off later. Wink wink.
