keep washing with soap and water. Dont reccommend peroxide. Sometimes when the bacteria bubbles up it is trapped under the skin. Since the cat was ferral, keep a close eye on the bite. Wash it daily with mild soap and water.

Cats have nasty bacteria in their mouth and even a small bite can be innoculated with these germs. You have done the right thing by washing. I always wash for 5 minutes with an antibacterial and then I dab some iodine on the site if they are superficial...then I wait and monitor with wound. If it swells I make sure the swelling doesn't spread and at the first sign of spreading I get to the doctor for some antibiotics. For deep wounds I go straight to the doctor for some prophylactic antibiotics. It really depends on how deep the wound is and if you are immunocompromised in any way.

Well a cat bite can easily become infected and swollen. If it hasn't been too long a good way to keep it from ever swelling is to wash well, that you did. wrap a hot damp cloth around it then wrap it in plastic and put another towel around it and put a hot water bottle on it. sounds stupid but it really works to keep it from swelling. I used to be a vet tech and even though we are supposed to handle these guys bites still happen. The last doc I worked with gave me that info. Never swelled again but boy can they hurt. If it was a tiny kitten he probably wouldn't have made it far if he had rabies but ya never know!!

you did what home treatment you could at home; but since the bite was from a feral cat, I would ne concerned with RABIES. Best go to the ER and get a shot... it won't be expensive but it could save you a whole lot of grief healthwise if it turns out that the cat had rabies...
oh... i juts read your question again... and see that you said it was a feral KITTEN. Well there will be less likelihood of rabies, but stil - you should go to a doc.

its sounds like you did a pretty good job of getting it clean put a little antibacterial stuff on it. Keep a good eye on it too or just go to the doc. My mother in law gotten bitten just like you and did the same thing but it kept getting infected and puffed up. She went to the Doc to have him look at it and they pulled a worm out of her bite wound. AHHHHHHHH I'm not kidding I about threw up when my father in law told me about it. So maybe have it checked out

you need to REALLY check the puncture wounds for cat hair that gets lodged quite deep down and not easily seen from the surface, so although you wash the wound, you wouldnt see the fur below. It is painfull, but get a needle and poke around in the puncture holes to see if any fur comes up.....
and if you havent had your tetanus shots for a couple of years, get one.

See a doctor right away. I read in several cat books that, although dog bites bleed more since they have bigger teeth, the bleeding actually helps wash away bacteria. Cats on the other hand have tiny, needle-like teeth that pretty much inject the bacteria in your skin.

Normally, I'd say that is good enough. But it is a feral cat .. for that reason alone, I would go to the Doctor and tell him about it. Good Luck! :)
