Atomic theory is based on empirical data (observable phenomena),and even logic, I'll not pretend to understand it throughly or string theories attached to it. But we are talking about things with no rational, emprical, or logical data.

No offense, but you believe in mathematics don't you? O.K. so you can instantly see with objects that 2+1=3, but when they tell you 5 676 + 5 787 = 11 463, you have to believe that through faith in rules of induction. You could always count that far, but how about 352 145,32 * 65214,25 = 22 964 892 934,81, you believe calculators on faith, don't you?
What about the structure of an atom? Who's ever seen one of those?

Well, I haven't studied much empirical data, so I sure wouldn't know..I only go by what I DO know..

In 1982 we were involved in a children's ministry, to the children of the Barrio..As an end of the season party, we invited the children to a homemade ice-cream party at the school grounds..
There were nine of us workers, and 3 home freezers of ice-cream, plus one punch bowl of Hawaiian Punch...Well, we were shocked when 230 people, kids, parents, baby siblings, aunts, uncles, etc showed up for the party! Our pastor's wife told us to just feed the littlest kids first, as they wouldn't understand not having enough ice-cream..but the pastor prayed over the meager offerings and asked that God multiply it to his purpose..and we began serving...We served all 230 people, plus all of the workers, and still had 1/3 of each gallon container of ice-cream, plus a full punch bowl when we were done..
I'll tell you! All of us were whooping, dancing, crying...I'm sure we looked like a bunch of fools!

So, I don't know what empirical data is..but I sure do know a miracle when I see it...And if I didn't believe it, I really would feel stupid......

Try this on for size:

Every being we observe is contingent. But there must be a necessary being, otherwise all the contingent beings would ultimately have nothing upon which to be contingent. We name this necessary being "God."

Is the existence of the universe and your own mind sufficient "empirical data" for you?

For God's sake, take a freshman philosophy class and read some Aquinas. Of course his razor sharp intellect will tear you to shreds, but hey... that's how we grow.

1) I hate stupid questions. 2) I hate stupid people. So therefore, I hate you and this question. But I am bored so... I am a chemistry major, there is no empirical evidence for the atomic theory either. Do you believe in that, if so..it is called "faith".

The world is created by imagination and things that are not measured by scientific instruments... And some of the things that they think they have proof of are incorrect.
Things do not exist the way we think that they do. What we see and experience does not exist in the way we think it does. We think that things exist outside of ourselves, but this is untrue. We have a choice in the existence of things ...in what we impute on them...and of what we beleive them to be. Any object, say a chair, exist as many different things to different beings. To one person it is something to sit on, to another a table to set a cup of tea on, to another being firewood, to another artwork, to another being like an insect it is a vast plane or highway.
If you think that Santa does not exist ...then Santa will not exist for you...BUt for me, The most amazing and Happy and Magical times of my childhood were when I was believing. Did you see the movie Polar express? I loved it

Here's one for you. 400 years men thought they were intelligent, but we know now they were not. 200 years ago, men thought they were intelligent, but they were ignorant. Today men think they are intelligent, well guess what, they are ignorant. Want proof? How about diet pills that are later discovered to destroy heart valves. Empirical data? Sounds like a scientific phrase a man invented...Empirical data...yep I bet if I started using that phrase people would think I'm smart.

So you don't believe in love? patriotism? loyalty? friendship? Where is the empirical data to demonstrate that these exist? Or is it just possible that we can be certain these exist because of personal experience, even in the absence of empirical data?

It is Strange.
BEFOR you Believe in GOD you don't Believe anything about HIM.
THEN, After you get Saved and the Blinders come off, you got ALL KINDS of PROOF that HE Exists!
And then, you Still can't help anybody Else Believe in HIM (Personally) you cannot Prove GOD Exists, to Anybody.
