I assume you mean bell´s palsy. Wel l80% of patients with the peripherial type of palsy will be completely recovered by the 4th week. Usually there is at least a partial resolution by then, but some are left with slurred speach or incapacity to firmly close the affected eye. Is she under any therapy program? She should, couse that really helps.
If i was your physician I´d tell not to worry, to wait and see, becouse right now there is really not mucho to do but wait (exept perhaps physical therapy)

The extent of nerve damage determines the extent of recovery. With or without treatment, most individuals begin to get better within 2 weeks after the initial onset of symptoms and recover completely within 3 to 6 months.

The above is a quote from the attached article that explains Bell's palsy. While "most" recover, it is possible for some symptoms to persist permanently.

I had a case of that last year on half my face. I was real lucky though, i caught it real early on, but it almost took 6 weeks for me to be able to smile and fully blink out of both eyes. The ER doctors gave me an anti viral med because it it an internal virus, linked to chicken poxs and cold sores. They also gave me a steroid type drug to help the nerve regenerating. the palsy is nerve loss and just takes time for it to go back to normal. I also had to put goop in my eye at night and tape it shut so my eye ball didnt dry out and lose my sight. I was real lucky some people dont fully recover and will always have some nerve problems and some lose sight in an eye. SO all I can say is tell your mo9m to stay on whatever meds she is on and give it time!

One friend had it only a couple of weeks, another has had it for years. I don't think there is any way to predict. The fact that your mother is improving sounds good.

Some people have had good relief by seeing a chiropractor.. I have yet to hear of any one determining how long it will last. Would be total guess work.
